How MIST Works
Sometimes during the healing process wounds will “stall”. The cells in the wound appear to shut down and healing stops. MIST Therapy® ultrasound waves gently push against the cells like a hand pressing on a water balloon to “wake” them so they can continue their normal healing process.
The gentle ultrasound waves also push against the bacterial cells found in all wounds. Because bacteria have thinner more rigid cell walls, many bacterial membranes will fracture or crack, like the shell of an egg, causing the bacteria to die and removing a barrier to healing. (21,22,23)
Increasing the blood flow to the wound is another way MIST Therapy helps the wound to heal. (17,26)

All these factors work together to speed the rate of healing without pain. Not only is MIST Therapy procedure painless, but several studies have shown it reduces wound pain over time* (24,25,27,CS9).
*MIST Therapy is not approved for the reduction of pain. Further clinical study is required.
